Vanessa Whitehouse is passionate about making a difference in children's lives. As an experienced primary school teacher with a young family, she really wanted to find the flexibility in her life that would allow her to spend more time with her boys and continue to do the work that she loves.
She now runs award-winning, fun, creative art and craft classes, after-school clubs, parties and events for all ages in the Darlington area.
We asked Vanessa to share why she loved providing creative activities in her community- this is what she said:
"I wanted more time with my family and less pressure from my work life. I wanted to be able to do the school runs myself and live without the guilt of missing the special times with my boys."
"It was the chance to work with children and their families doing all of the things I love the most about teaching. Being part of Creation Station means that I can work with people of all ages developing their creativity and confidence in themselves."
"Seeing the babies and children so excited by what I bring out each week. I love getting to know lots of new people in my area. I even get to have some 'me' time whilst at work by also joining in during my 'Creative Crafters' adult crafting workshops in Darlington."
"So excited! I feel more free - and love that I am able to move my business in the direction that I want to. I am really looking forward to running lots of fantastic craft workshops and events in Darlington this year!"

Who wouldn't love the flexibility of this business! I can honestly say it has ticked all of the boxes I had set down from the beginning with making sure the work/life balance fit in around my family. I schedule my classes, parties and events around my home life commitments and can be Mummy to my children all at the same time as being a successful business owner.Avne Wilson
I've been running my own Creation Station franchise since 2014 and love it! The Creative Hub Head Office team are fantastic and the support and advice I've received from them has been invaluable. There's a great national network of franchisees who can answer any question you ask, at any time of the day (or night!)Louise Richardson
I've been running my franchise for a year and I love running my own business and being in charge of my own future. It has enabled me to enjoy more time with my family than I would otherwise have had and allowed me to see my baby grow into a little boy.Claire Darnley
