MagiKats will provide you with the training and the business tools you need.
Prior to becoming a MagiKats Principal, Anne had a strong foundation teaching at one of the largest British schools in Bahrain, St Christopher’s. When Anne retired from St Christopher’s she realised that she wasn’t ready to abandon a career she loved. Anne had a passion for teaching but was also keen to run her own business and in her own words, 'run things my way'.
We asked Anne to pick out the best bits about her job.
"It is seeing how amazingly quickly some children can progress even if it is simply by giving them increased confidence. Being responsible for giving them that confidence is such a wonderfully worthwhile experience it’s difficult to put into words. To have Mums and Dads say, ‘Thank you, thank you, thank you!’, because you’ve made such a positive difference to their children, is simply brilliant."
Having been a teacher focusing on special needs, Julie realised that there was more she could do to support children, outside the classroom environment. As a mother of two, she wanted more flexibility than she was able to achieve working in a school, so she looked towards the education franchise market for an opportunity that could mix her love for teaching with the flexible lifestyle that running your own business can provide.
When asked why she chose MagiKats, Julie said,
"I thought the work was very good, I could afford the franchise fee and I liked the family that run MagiKats, so felt that the support would be good."
Julie was realistic about the prospects for her new business:
"I worked for a year before leaving work as I knew that I would not make money in my first year of business."
Julie has now been operating for four and a half years:
"I find that the people at MagiKats Head Office are always ready at the end of the phone to offer help and advice and I feel that they genuinely care about me and my business,".
When asked for the best thing about operating a MagiKats Tuition Centre, Julie said it was the lovely pupils and the autonomy she is given to run her business in a way that suits her.
Shruti Pednekar became a MagiKats Principal just over two years ago. She had extensive business experience, both as a director of a private limited company exporting promotional items and ten years’ experience as the manager for HR and Payroll IT departments for two major companies.
However, education was a passion for Shruti and MagiKats provided her with the opportunity, framework and support to run her own Tuition Centres.
Shruti said:
"Even though I'm running my own business, I never feel isolated with the extensive technical and personal support provided by MagiKats. Working with children is incredibly fulfilling and in addition to having a thriving business I know what’s ahead for my own six year old’s education."
Shruti’s advice for other MagiKats Principals is simply:
"Love what you do and put your heart and soul in your work. Help other parents and children to love education."
MagiKats couldn’t agree more and Shruti is a terrific example of the rewarding career available as a MagiKats franchisee!
Although this sort of industry is often considered an ideal opportunity for women, almost 30% of MagiKats franchisees are men. They too come from a wide variety of backgrounds, from the obvious profession of teaching, to accountants and even an ex-vending machine salesman!
The underlying principle remains the same – no matter what your background, gender or age – a passion for education and the drive to work hard and run your own business are the main talents you need – then the MagiKats Tuition Centres do the rest.
If you love working in education but are frustrated with the system. A MagiKats Franchise is a great way to get back to doing what you love, and you can be as hands on or off as you like.
When thinking about opening your own business, things have to feel ‘right’. But what does that actually mean? MagiKats Founder, Sarah Marsh talks about what 'feel right' actually means.
When a franchised business is just launching, Franchisors will, most likely, look to build territories for their franchisees that will give them the best return on investment. Here are some of the common factors that may be taken into account.
Running your own tutoring business offers a chance to take that spark started by getting involved in home-schooling and making a difference to children in your local community.
Had we delayed the decision to develop our new system and/or had our franchisees not embraced the change, then we could not have continued during lockdown. So, we have to thank the technology, the people, the timing – because we are still here!
If you are thinking about a change of career, there’s every chance that you probably also want to find a new job where you still use some of your skills.
