I was keen on a big change in my life. I had worked for large companies my whole life, never in one place much longer that 3 or 4 years. Some great experiences along the way but I wanted to have more control over my life, to settle in one place and address the balance of lifestyle, reward and satisfaction from work. I actually found ASC whilst researching the idea of finding financial support for starting my own business and then quickly realised the ASC model was exactly the type of business I would enjoy running and with ASC I didn’t have all the heavy lifting involved in setting the business up, it was all there ready to go.
Quite simply control. After numerous years of dealing with layers of management and bureaucracy I am now my own boss. This means I can take decisions more quickly, I can focus on what is important to me, I have much better contact with the end customer and can be so much more productive. Work now doesn’t really feel like work, it is great meeting new clients, understanding what they are trying to achieve and then helping them achieve their goals - levels of job satisfaction are tenfold higher than with previous roles.
Having the freedom to run my own business, to make my own decisions about what the business is doing day to day but always with the knowledge of the support behind me. It provides the freedom of being self-employed with a big old safety net.
After many years on the corporate treadmill I was very keen for a change and that was the catalyst that led me to ASC. If I hadn’t joined ASC I would have ended up doing something different but I’m sure I would not have been as successful as I have been.
For me the switch to commercial broker was a significant change from my prior work. In addition, even though I had worked all over the world I was making a move to Scotland for the first time and had no contacts on which to build my business. The support from the ASC team was essential in helping me get the business quickly established and generating income. I could not have achieved all that I have with my business in Scotland without the framework ASC provides and the support they give.
In my corporate career I achieved many things but always lacked that real connection with the end customer. At ASC I have been able to work directly with people helping them achieve life goals or major lifestyle change. For many of our clients it isn’t just another transaction it is a significant life decision and it is hugely rewarding to be a part of the process and to help them achieve their ambitions. After several years of working in Scotland I often pass businesses that I have helped as I travel around the country and can remember not just the specific deal but the stories behind the people and that is a level of satisfaction and reward I never really achieved in big corporate.
After five years as Regional Director of Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire, John Fuchs has never looked back.
ASC Director, Conrad Robins, opened ASC Finance for Business in St Austell in 1990.
I left a senior position in a major building society because I wanted to take responsibility for my own business. Being part of ASC gives me the rewards for my own efforts and also the support from being part of a team.Ian Morgan - ASC Regional Director Bristol, Somerset and Wiltshire
I joined ASC in 1990, first with just the Cornwall area, and then adding Devon as the opportunities became very quickly evident. During this time, I have seen many competitors come and go, to the point where our market expertise is unrivalled. I look forward to the next ten years.Conrad Robins - ASC Regional Director, Cornwall and Devon
The support offered throughout the process was impressive. I love being my own boss and know that my job and my future are secure. I have gone from being employed, to owning a growing business in an industry that I have a real passion for.Simon Mullens - ASC Regional Director, Hertfordshire
